The object is to look at he present set up and come up with an as minimum as possible structural change while at the same time giving us the fundamental of the revolution.
I suggest that minimum/maximum alteration is collective worker control of the industrial means of production and distribution. If we had that everything else could be had just as fast or just as slow as is determined to be prudent.
Right now we have close to a binary system that we could live with for a while. Structurally we have a democratic political government. No it is not the ideal setup for “community” representation but structurally it’s better than a stick in the eye, as they say.
Right now we have at least some kind of correspondence between the political government and the economic government. Bear with me. Presently capitalists have a lot of influence over the political government, but sometimes in fact the political government assumes a referee function and has to keep capitalists from going so far out of line as to prevent as much as they can get away with a destabilization of the entire system.
Without too much structural alteration we can utilize that basic arrangement: Structurally leave political government just as it is. By doing away with private ownership of the means of production and substituting worker collective control – as far as the political government is concerned capitalist is now replaced by worker – structurally things work as before but now with simply different emphases.
Is it perfect? No. Ideal, no. Practical, yes. Workable, yes. Most of all, acceptable and understandable by the people. I say yes. It ends class rule. Ends the forced wages system. Ends the produce/ market or die economy. Give us that, and most of us I would imagine could die happy. Our children, their children and all of their neighbors around this ever shrinking planet could safely take it from there.
