Over at the deleonism.org forum others and I came up with the text of a proposed constitutional amendment. In the Arnold Petersen (Socialist Labor Party) book "Constitution of the United States" there is a DeLeon editorial that the SLP does not have up in it's archive. Mike Lepore was good enough to post it in the deleonism.org collection:

In the editorial DeLeopn takes about the US Constitution as a possible vehicle for social change (my take on it anyway) It's an idea neither the SLP nor anyone else ever did anything with.
Question: if you could write an amendment to the US Constitution to institute or to even initiate the society that you espouse what would it look like?
Answering that question ain't easy.
In trying to hammer out a draft we discovered a couple of things, one being that it is perfectly acceptable for the current political govt. structure to exist alongside of the economic organization of labor (SIU or whatever you want to call it.) So the concerns about guaranteeing freedom of speech etc. are dealt with in the idea that nothing is being taken away from constitutional protection except the small issue of the legality of the private ownership of the means of production and distribution.
Before I ramble any further here is is proposal. Comments? Brickbats?
Sincerely,
Dave Searles
