This is a strange posting but let me respond with as straight a face as possible. "Infinite Nancy" is right in one regard: Democracy doesn't exist anywhere, but the goal of it has existed for many centuries and its appeal is grounded in the recognition of basic human rights and dignity.
To begin with, real Democracy is no threat to "InfiniteNancy" or anyone else. In fact, it represents an effective way for the best solutions, innovations, etc to emerge. It allows all ideas and voices, not one, to be heard and tested. "Nancy" might have a problem with the basic human need to live socially and to arrive at a common good, but that is Nancy's problem that may be based on what has been misdefined as "democracy" but is in fact its opposite: Capitalism and its distorting, dominant control of our economy, our media, our culture, our language, our values and beliefs. Democracy cannot exist in such a
dominating, controlling framework.
Actually, I can't really believe this posting was very seriously considered. Why? Because of its own underlying paradox and contradiction; its argument is an oxymoron!
"Nancy" needs to clarify- at least for 'her'self- why 'she' is so adamantly & fiercely against democracy and yet argues the original posting.......contending wretched Democracy IS completely compatible with the very system(Capitalism) she heartily so commends. That with it, we already have 'flexibility & freedom', and yet 'she' wants LESS FREEDOM & LESS FLEXIBILITY to correct its 'messed up' state!
So which is it Nancy- you can't have it both ways.
