Politicians vs. We, the People

Ed. CALynn's astute observations of how the political state politicians ignor our nation's majority electorate is indicative of a growing citizen awareness of the PFANS program for an economic democracy in which We, the People, will exercise decision making empowerment in all matters which affact our lives... The U.S.Senator (NJ Dem) addressed here typifies the Congressional "polite" disrespect for the people they were elected to represent.

Senator,

Thank you for your recent letter in response to my request asking for your support of impeachment proceedings against the current administration. I do appreciate your reply and have reviewed your letter in great detail.

Rarely is Congress synonymous with accountability. That’s why Americans are frustrated, referred to as “bitter”, and have one of the lowest election turnout rates of industrialized nations.

As long as our political landscape continues to seed the magic show (dubbed The Great Illusion), it will garner an abundant harvest of (com)pliant citizens who think they are “free” (to pay $3.80 or $3.83 per gallon for gas while energy companies make unprecedented billion dollar record-breaking profits), or have the ability to “choose” (between candidates no one really wants but who greased party boss’ pockets), and that we have “control” over our lives (despite the fact that five conglomerates - Time Warner, Disney, Rupert Murdoch, General Electric, and Viacom - manage just about everything we read, see, hear, and watch every single day).

Did you know, Senator Menendez, that only one channel broadcast Barack Obama’s live acceptance speech at the DNC, but the following week twenty seven channels (2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 13 (PBS), 16, 17, 18 (Spanish), 19, 20, 21 (again PBS), 23, 25, 26, 38, 41, 47, 53, 59, 60, 64, and 75) simultaneously aired John McCain’s performance?

Is 2008, America is reaping exactly what its (controllers) have sowed.

In the second paragraph of your letter, you noted several of this administration’s egregious acts such as “illegitimate war”, “illegal (wiretapping)” and “total collapse (of the system)”. But you went on to say that pursuing impeachment of Bush and Cheney was not feasible because “we cannot afford to spare the time and resources needed to build the case.” That would be a valid point were it not for the fact that the 110th Congress – with a nine percent approval rating – has had the least amount of productivity in 30 years passing only 260 laws (out of 1,413 presented), 74 of which were dedicated to naming post offices!

More importantly, ninety nine percent of the work for impeachment is already done. There is no need to “build a case”. In July of this year, Dennis Kucinich presented 35 articles of impeachment to the House of Representatives and at that time provided overwhelming – and here’s the key word - indisputable - evidence of the high crimes and misdemeanors of this administration. It is a veritable slam-dunk.

Basically all the 110th Congress has to do is listen.

But why start now? The following is a sampling of what you and your colleagues have been doing for the past twenty months – that is, these were your priorities:

H.RES 1050 Recognizing Pittsfield Massachusetts as being home to the earliest known reference to the word “baseball” in the United States.

H.RES 483: Recognizing the 63rd Anniversary of Big Bend National Park.

H.RES 970: Expressing support for designation of June 30 as “National Corvette Day”.

SRES 440: A resolution recognizing soil as an essential natural resource and soils professionals as playing a critical role in managing our soils resources.

H.RES 180: A resolution recognizing the 70th anniversary of the Idaho Potato Commission and designating May 2007 as “Idaho Potato Month.”

HRES 103: Congratulating the Mount Union College Purple Raiders for winning the 2006 NCAA Division III Football National Championship.

And of course, my favorite:

H.J. Res 43: Amending the dollar limitation of our national debt to the amount of $9,815,000,000,000 (that’s nine trillion eight hundred fifteen billion dollars).

The list is endless with this kind of “representation”.

Of course we have the time, money, and resources to pursue impeachment. No excuses. Americans are patient - having tolerated an administration that was not elected but selected - but we can become weary.

Further, the Bush Administration’s crimes do not expire because of the election on November 4th. Their abuse of power still violates our constitution. They can – and must be - held accountable.

I’ll make it even easier for you: There is a play – Impeachment Play DVD - that has been produced and is available free of charge. Just go to www.millionphonemarch.com/impeachplay.php to view it.

Watch it while you are on the train to DC. Bring a binder and take notes.

Now that Congress is back from its (month of) August paid vacation – complete with full health benefits and pension courtesy of We The People - it is time to get to work on impeachment. If not for us, then for the children. Because by showing them that we can – and will – pursue violators of the law – they will learn that actions do have consequences. And how many of them will stop to think before doing something illegal?

Isn't that our responsibility as parents and citizens not to pass on to our heirs suffocating debt, but to show them how to mount an opposition to those who have created these outrageous offenses?

The rule of law is essential to our democratic process. majority Without it, our existence is tyrannica. Unless the impeachment process is implemented, you and your Congressional colleagues subscribe to the unlawfulness of the Executive Branch of this government, and, inadvertantly, you are admitting to us that we do not live in a DEMOCRACY.
