The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder U Tube featured on the PFANS forums poses the question: “ Does American Care?” about our young men and women dying in Iraq, and the returning physically, mentally and spiritually damaged wounded.
The thousands of supportive comments which follow the video say, “YES!” America, does CARE,”
BUT, We, the People, simply do not have the DEMOCRACY in our necessary institutions which would enable us to ACT on our cares.
We have been programmed to accept our government as a DEMOCRATIC instrument through which we will have our concerns and cares addressed and resolved, BUT it doesn’t happen!
We expect the government to have immediately ready all the necessary medical and psychological treatment facilities available to accommodate our the returning war wounded, BUT it doesn’t happen.
We expect the government to act as quickly in the care of our wounded as it had been in sending them to invade Iraq. BUT it doesn’t happen.
Why doesn’t it happen? Very simple answer…, We do not live in a DEMOCRACY!
Only yesterday, ignoring the cries for the majority of the people who elected them to office to stop the war, the Iraq INVASION was $$ funded once again by OUR "peoples" Congress to give the Bush Administration more money to contunue the CORPORATE directed GRAB for Iraq's oil reserves.
The reality is we live in a POLITICAL and CORPORATE DICTATORSHIP! The needs and concerns of We, the People, simply are ignored while the market demands of the corporate competitors, the GM's, the GE's, the Halliburtons, the Airline corporations, big oil companies, the giant agra capitalist corporations such as General Foods and Nabisco are the main beneficiaries of this POLITICAL form of OUR government.
How else can it be explained that it was 10 years before the minimum wage was raised a few cents? 10 years without ANY wage increase for the lowest paid working people in OUR society? 10 long years during which time prices for all necessaries of life were going sky high? And today, with gas so expensive, minimum wage workers cannot afford to drive to work. How can we afford all this?
Certainly wages cannot easily meet the living expenses of MOST people, which explains why the nation's credit card holders are in greater debt than ever before in our history?
And this "political" government, with the politicians in charge,with all its daily legislation work going on in both Houses of Congress, has done little or NOTHING that effectively makes things better for We, the People.
Last week, after Congress held hearings with the leading Oil corporation CEOs, NOTHING was considered to make prices affordable for We, the People! Instead, OUR elected officials listened to the Big Oil CEOs, whose incomes are in the $$millions, yes, that's millions (of dollars) who explained how the "SYSTEM" works and WHY gas prices HAD to be at current levels, because of what they all referred to as the workings of the FREE market, which is another term for the system of CAPITALISM.
A "Free market," yes, free for the corporations to do whatever will bring the highest incomes for the wealthiest capital investors, and for the CEO managers,and FREE for us, We, the majority citizenry, to work in a system which does not enable us to meet easily all our vital needs.
OUR representatives, the so-called "voices" of We, the People, sat, listened, nodded in compliance, and the hearings were over, the high prices of foods and fuels remain in place. In this entire so-called democratic process, We, the People, had NO say, no empowerment to change things for OUR betterment.
What more evidence do we need to conclude that DEMOCRACY and CAPITALISM are NOT COMPATIBLE ?? So, what do WE do about it? Simply watch our lives, and those of our future generations, go on as usual, with all the travails which plague us with economic insecurities.
Our alternatives are very clear. Either we stay with this kind of government, OR we change it, as we are so entitled …, as Abraham Lincoln clearly advised:
"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world. "
We CAN do better…. Individually? No! Together? Most definitely !!!
Many of us are involved with local political groups whose members are aware of their own difficult, individual conditions. No reason why we cannot introduce the DEMOCRACY construct for government, which is the basis for the PFANS program. That’s a starter. That’s how a true citizens, peoples political party can be born. That’s how we can our POWER, through our Constitutional RIGHT, to “…shake off the existing government, and form the NEW one which suits US better.
Only when WE accomplish the goal which Lincoln’s directions promote, will WE be able to use our necessary government and industrial institutions to make right all the poor societal conditions which today’s political form does not allow, and which forces us to continue to involuntarily wallow in our own-held helplessness which gives cause for the unsettling question: "DOES AMERICA CARE?”
We CAN do something about it!
