The COCORIOKO Forum , which was disabled on Friday, will be returning later today after I give the go-ahead. The Forum was disabled because many contributors took advantage of our tolerance for free speech to launch obscenities and expletives .We don't mind animated debates as has been proved in the past but there are always mischiefmakers in our midst whom the devil takes control of during such heated debates to deviate from the norms and start posting obscenities .
Whether their aim is to settle long-term bitter grudges or they just love chaos is not clear, but posting multiple obscenities from sites with the same two or three-digit prefixes (Which gives the impression that they are operating from an internet cafe or library), they just override debates with expletives. Another violation is that they used other people's names as posters of their thrash. Readers who look back know those people fond of impersonating others. We also do not know whether these demonic persons want the forum to go with the way of others. We will however not close the forum. During the past few days, we have been hanging heads about how to make the forum survive .
We studied and found out why other forums like LEONENET-TAMU and LEONET-UMBC , the LIBERIAN FORUM etc have no such abuses and why they don't get disabled .We discovered the reasons and are going to implement the same measures they use to remain on top of the mischief of Sierra Leoneans.
We have the capacity to punish those people who refuse to follow our rules and regulations ; some posters of obscenities and vile personal attacks have been banned and will not return to the forum. We have recorded every IP and the obscenities that emanated from each IP. If these persons call or write for reinstatement , we will check their IPs first against the offences they committed. If the offences were grave, we will not reinstate them. We agree that not everybody can participate in any forum. We will rather have just 5 serious debates than the Rogbaingbay crowd full of trouble. We will now go for few but serious forumites.
Secondly, we have the ability to stop people going beserk on the forum like ones that have been possessed by the devil. We are not going to state how we can handle them, but contributors will be returning to a different forum where certain people will no longer be able to post thrash or obscenities on the forum any longer. Your trash or obscenity will refuse to post. Also to avoid TRIBALISM and tribe-bashing, certain words will no longer appear on the forum. Words like Cannibals, cannibalism, borfima, wunde, poro, Mende, temne , Leopard society , etc . will no longer post on the forum. People who want to launch attacks on other tribes will receive a message that there are offensive words in their posts. We will add more words to the OFFENSIVE-WORDS LIST as we go on, or as becomes necessary. If you are told that you cannot post because you are using offensive words, do not call us or write us. Just check your post and try to make it clean. We are not trying to please or satisfy anybody.Infact, that is one thing we have resolved not to ever do again ---Try to please people. We have found out that Sierra Leoneans that want to be pleased get pleased. Sierra Leoneans that are not ready to be pleased will never be pleased, whatever one does. And it is not a good thing to try to please everybody.
Thirdly, the forum will go off the air whenever the Moderator or I will not be available for a protracted spell. Since some Sierra Leoneans cannot just be responsible and must shamefully pollute wherever they are, we will have to implement these measures.
Fourthly, we have to advice those posting music to seriously limit them on the forum. We set up the forum for Sierra Leoneans to discuss matters of grave concern to their country, not for personal attacks or harassment of others.
We hope contributors will take advantage of this unique opportunity to debate national matters instead of attack others personally or going berserk like the Devil and start posting insults from an internet cafe and/or library. Those allowing their internet cafes or job computers to be used for defamation need to know that new laws against internet abuse can affect them, whereever they live. INTERPOL has the power to arrest criminals in any country. You might think that you are getting away with internet abuse because you are safe in your country. This is not so. The long arm of international law can get you anywhere, so be careful. You are not getting away with anything.It is just a matter of time before you are nailed by INTERPOL.
