I had also read that but don't personally know if it's true or not. I will say that I have served on the planning board with Chuck Early, our fire inspector. One of his chores was to propose warrant articles to update our fire codes to the current NFPA standards. He always took great pains to research and point out _any_ path to residential sprinklers in the newer codes, to ensure that people wouldn't get blindsided. I think Chief Murphy, like all fire chiefs, likes sprinklers because they do save lives and reduce property damage. But he is not about to force them on an unsuspecting and unwilling public.
