NIMS has been around a lot longer than the Department of Homeland Security, it is nothing new. Fire Departments accross the country have been using it for many years and now police departments have been getting trained in it - in fact it is now part of the NH police academy program. Whether you realize it or not, NIMS is already in place, and would be used during any sort of major incident whether the Hampstead BOS adopt it or not.
