The answer about the population drop ,to me anyway, is more than two fold . One is the attitude of many in town that their vote doesn't and wont matter because of the ruling status of certain people who appear to be running the town. This fear factor that seems to prevail of what might happen to them if anyone who "offends" the "ruling class" in what ever they want . [Pop. is less than 8000 , small town politics!!] The reason for the down turn in population has to be due to what has happened past to present by the lack of standing up for ones self and the community at large and be heard on the towns growth and direction. The reason for our high taxes and less population is because of the lack of attention to the needs of change that certain people do not want to have happen . If the "rulers" did want change then it would only be for their reasons only , not yours. If you want the necessary changes to come about there is the ballot box in the next election. In the mean time there has to be a demand for the towns leaders to do the peoples work and not that of those certain few . Go to the meetings and not just observe them at home or by hear say ,take part in them by being vocal. Its your town to enjoy and live in and your money that gives you the right to tell the town leaders what you want.
