Hey Sweet Hiller, are you related to the other Sweet Hiller? Thanks for stopping by.
I think when a Lawyer doesn't show, he's sending a message that the town doesn't have a leg to stand on. In Plaistow, there's no definition for "Light Industrial". I don't know if this was the Planning Boards idea or if they're taking their marching orders from the State of NH. Not having a firm definition puts the town at risk with Testa. I'd say the Planning Board's to blame for this little oversight.
Lawyers used to show up when things got tough. If I remember correctly, when the Planning Board in Plaistow had their special meeting on the Graham Waste / CBI regional trash transfer station at Chart back in 2005, someone from Lawyer Bates's office appeared. If only for PR purposes. It looks good. At least I think Bates represented the Board at the time. I would have to dig real deep to figure out who represents the Board now. I know the Selectmen didn't want Sumner over there. They had a debate about it. I saw it in their meeting minutes. It doesn't look like Plaistow's getting the service they expect from the current outfit.
Now as for Attorney Sumner Kalman. Boy, are you correct, he now represents the Town of Newton and I think I saw a mention in the paper last week that Raymond is looking for a town attorney. Wanna bet Sumner's sent them his resume. I think he'd just love to add every town in Rockingham County to his stable. That way the Real Estate side of his practice gets a huge leg up. He's no fool.
And boy your heart has to go out to Atkinson resident and Plaistow Planner, Leigh Kormornick. She's the town's Planning Coordinator and stand-in lawyer.
