I agree, start out just doing very simple bondage, like just tying the hands. If all goes well after a couple of sessions, try just tying the wrists and ankles. If it still goes well, introduce one more rope into the scene. Gradually build up the bondage from session to session until either she's as bound as you like or she hits her limit (and you must respect that). Adding a gag is the last thing you do, after all the rest of the bondage is established and definitely after a safeword (preferably something that can be done while gagged) is established, and I suggest doing it at first with no bondage at all. I call this last step, "the gag game," and the rules of play are as follows:
1. If the wearer touches the gag anywhere, that is an automatic safeword, the gag must immediately be removed and that session is scored a failure.
2. If the wearer uses the agreed upon safeword or safesignal, the gag must immediately be removed and that session is scored as a success.
3. If the wearer demonstrates she can wear the gag without touching it or using a safeword/safesignal for the session duration, the session is scored a success.
4. The gag is cleared for bondage play if there are successful sessions under both rules 2. and 3., including the use of rule 2. at a time unexpected by the captor, and if all parties agree.
