There are no secondary shadows in the Claire shot because I had all 3 big lamps on her with diffusers, and one of those lamps was placed as the primary light source. Your guess that I used flash there is erroneous.
Returning to the very first post in this thread, he asked how such a photo could be produced. Perhaps he asked because he would like to produce such a photo himself. Discussions of apertures and placement etc. are moot. The correct response to his question is: a photo like that is easily made with a Mavica camera (even an old one) with everything set on automatic and at least one really strong lamp. Looking through my pics, I find many cases of great nylon detail, regardless of how many lamps I had on and where they were placed. So there's no reason for a rigger to worry about aperture etc when a good camera can be set entirely on auto and produce beautifully detailed photography. Bravo to technology's continued march forward!
