....i want to mention first a really good debut novel, Gutshot Straight by Lou Berney, a smart/funny tale in the style of Carl Hiassen.... Shake Bouchon is fresh out of prison, determined to go straight, maybe open up his own restaurant, But....just one more job, for a friend, and all he has to do is drive a car from L.A. to Vegas- and don't look in the trunk....which leads to a lap-dancer named Gina, a Vegas mobster nick-named The Whale, rare religious reliquies, a swindler on the lam from the Feds, and a trip to Panama....good stuff!
.....also read Bryant and May on the Loose by Fowler, Thereby Hangs a Tail by Spencer Quinn.....and was pleasantly surprised to find the last Stuart Kaminsky book, A Whisper to the Dead, which i loved, this one features my favorite Kaminsky character, Insp. Rostnikov....i will really miss this writer and all the wonderful characters he created, i feel like starting all over again with this series.....add Breathless, The Violet Hour, Skin and London Blvd to my recently-read list....London Blvd is typical Bruen- Great!
