Zowie!! Miss Becky!
I used to read like that (without being on a train),
but age and custom have withered my infinite
variety. Sigh...

Happy to say I've read a few of your choices.
LOVED the Dick Francis books DECIDER and
COME TO GRIEF and FOR KICKS.

Also loved SHADES OF GREY by Jasper Fforde.
(What did you make of it Becky?)

Haven't read THE FIRST RULE yet, am on the
waiting list at the library. But I've heard
only great things.

I'm currently reading THE SWEETNESS AT THE
BOTTOM OF THE PIE by Alan Bradley, a fun
mystery that takes place in the England of
the 1950's. The protagonist is only 11 years
old and much to be feared - HA!!! A great debut.
If you like Lisa Lutz's Spellman books,
you'll love this.

Also reading ENCORE PROVENCE by Peter Mayle.
Just finished BELLA TUSCANY by Frances Mayes so
obviously I've been in a travelin' frame of mind lately.

Recently read: BRYANT AND MAY ON THE LOOSE by
Christopher Fowler. Another wonderful book in
an equally wonderful series.

Also read another debut THE BROKEN TEAGLASS by
Emily Arsenault. Not as good as I expected, but
eerie and wierd and really, quite good enough if
you're in the mood for something less frenetic.

Also finished SHADOWS RETURN by Lynn Flewelling
which is the latest in a fantasy series I like
and can recommend for a change of pace.

Yvette
