: : My advice would be to start with Terry Goodkind. If he doesn't hook you, no one will. Also, try David Eddings.

: Ah ya I've seen Terry Goodkind's stuff in the shops. Its looking like I should try the fantasy stuff so between you and Rita telling me. Same question to you tho, are they all very long or is it just my imagination when I look at them?

An interesting question!
They are no longer than the usual...If you're like me, you will get into the story so much that you'll wish it was longer!

2 of my top five books ever read are:
The Doomfarers of Corromonde
The Star Followers of Corromonde...An APC from Vietnam gets sucked into a fantasy world, the chief wizard has drawn them as an ally against a powerful "evil" wizard. The way they deal with a huge dragon...with phos grenades, .50cals and end up finishing it off by running back and forth over it with their APC! They were very freaked out about it as you can imagine! Some fantasy books are very deep and explore things that simply can't be explored with a more non-fiction approach/genre of fiction. Stuff that is too sensitive can be explored freely in this genre.
