Help deleting registered user list?

: I have the software, and forum installed and running on my website, have for some time.

: At one point, I used the register to post/read feature, then stopped.
: Due to a disrupter, who went away, and apparently has now returned.
: So, we want to close the forum and require registration again to post.

: Previously many folks registered, and lost their emailgiving out the password etc.
: So, can I just purge the list, or delete it, whatever, to basically start completely fresh.
: the software admin interface seemed to only allow me to remove registered users, one at a time..........and with a LARGE list, this would take days.
